On Sunday, November 17, Mehdi Jahanbazi, a 35-year-old father of two children ages three and five, was shot in the head by security forces near his workplace in Shiraz during the fuel price protests in that city. He was taken to hospital but his severe injuries meant he could not be saved.
Jahanbazi, born in Sepidan, Fars province, was an employee of the Shiraz Health Network. According to an associate of his, on November 20 the family was forced to pay the security forces 70 million tomans, close to $6,100, to get his body back. He was buried in the village of Mambalu, near his birthplace.
