Last October, a five-member family from Sardasht, Iran drowned in the English Channel while attempting the perilous crossing from France to Britain as asylum seekers. In this heart-breaking report, NRK’s Mona Mykelbust and colleagues narrate how the body of toddler Artin, which police only publicly identified on June 7 this year, was found by a fisherman on the shores of Norway on New Year’s Day 2021.
The fisherman had at first thought it was clothes lying there, or maybe a "dummy" of the type the Rescue Service uses for practice.
To prevent everything from being washed out to sea again, he lifted the bundle up onto a rock.
Then he felt it, the weight.
Now he’ll show the police what he found, and it will be a day they will never forget.
