The debate over whether to impose new sanctions on Iran continues to divide top Democrats as the Senate prepares to break for the Christmas holiday.
Ten top Democratic Senate committee chairmen sent Majority Leader Harry Reid a letter late Wednesday urging the Nevada Democrat to refrain from imposing new economic penalties on Iran. They argue now is not the time for such congressional intervention as global powers attempt to craft a permanent nuclear agreement with Iran.
