This is neither a film set nor Lalehzar Street in the 1950s, but the Cinema Astara alleyway in Tajrish, one of the oldest neighbourhoods on the northern fringes of Tehran.
The cobbled street, which gives way to the imposing architecture of Grand Hotel, the Ghazarian jewelry shop, the Madame clothing store and Photography House, instantly carry visitors back in time to the old Tehran of more than 70 years ago.
Our citizen journalist observed passers-by taking photos of one another in the street ahead of the Nowruz holidays. “In the days close to spring,” they told IranWire, “if you want to play with memories, visit this nostalgic alleyway.”
