The dilapidated sewage system and stacked-up garbage in the alleys and back alleys of Abadan's deprived zones, which are just a stone's throw away from the city center, have endangered the lives of people in the "red"-coded province during the coronavirus outbreak. The extent of the sewage overflow is such that on-street deluges have not dried up even at temperatures of over 48 degrees. This appalling state of affairs was first documented by Iranian citizen journalists.
