Over the last year, the water reserves of Lake Urmia have improved, partially reversing a disastrous environmental catastrophe. The government has taken the credit, claiming that it took effective steps to save the cherished lake from drought. But many environmental activists dispute the claims, saying the increase in the reserves is temporary and that long-term conservation is badly needed.
