Khuzestan has been badly hit by a recent drought, which began in March. It has affected several villages, including Ghizaniye, and 25,000 people are without access to clean drinking water. Many of them have been getting water from nearby rivers, or if they can afford it, they buy water from private tankers. Although the government has promised to resolve the issues brought on by the drought, so far no action has been taken.
