Hormozgan province on the Persian Gulf in southern Iran annually hosts up to 90 species of aquatic birds, many of them migrating from the Siberian and Central Asian wetlands. The birds, including cormorants and swallows, can be seen along Hormozgan’s almost 2,000 kilometers of coastline and on the seven islands off the coast. The birds also tend to live within the city boundaries of Bandar Abbas, but the coastline is heavily polluted there, resulting in a less than ideal habitat for these families of birds.
