Iranian and the American national wrestling teams arrived at Kermanshah Airport on the evening of February 13. The city, around 300 miles from Tehran, will host the 2017 Wrestling World Cup on February 16 and 17.
Only days earlier, it was uncertain whether the US team would be allowed to enter the country to take part, which was seen as a response to President Trump's executive order banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the States. Following appeals from both the American and Iran wrestling federations, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that the freestyle wrestling team would be allowed in.
A federal judge in the United States suspended Trump's executive order on February 4.
