Tehran's Deputy Police Commander, Brigadier General Ghader Karim, held a press conference on Tuesday, January 24, providing families and reporters with much-awaited updates on the rescue operations at the site of January 19th's Plasco disaster. He said that eight families had initially reported missing people and that four of the bodies had since been recovered. “Four families are still waiting for fresh news on developments in the rescue operations," he confirmed. “A number of journalists have been admitted to the site to serve the public; some of them were not in possession of ID cards."
As the operation continued into its sixth day, Karim told reporters that all valuables, important documents and any other papers discovered during the search, rescue and rubble-clearing mission would be saved and returned to their owners, or to families of the owners.
