People who lost out in Iran's disastrous Mehr Housing Scheme staged a protest outside Iran's Central Bank on December 12, voicing their outrage over the government's failure to respond to their demands.
The scheme, which was set up under former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration, was set up to provide affordable housing for lower income families. But the project was marred by corruption and mismanagement, and at one point the former president demanded the Central Bank print money to help finance it.
Among those who were supposed to benefit from the scheme were employees of Tehran Bus Company, many of whom staged protests on December 4 and December 5.
