Iran's Ministry of Health has closed down a hospital in Tehran following allegations of misconduct. The hospital was also thought to be under investigation for a string of violations, including medical malpractice and failing to follow general standards on healthcare. The ministry ordered a full investigation into allegations, and the hospital will remain closed until this has been carried out.
The semi-official government media outlet Fars News Agency reported the scandal, but stopped short of publishing the name of the hospital, referring to it only as "hospital R" — which could refer to Ramtin Hospital, known for cardiovascular research and treatment. No reason was given for the partial omission.
