Every year, the people of Salakh village on Qeshm island mark Norouz Sayad. The bathing tradition, which takes place at the end of the month of Tir (which falls in the middle of July), is believed to protect against illness and promote health. The holiday means a day off for most people on the island, including the island's fishermen. The holiday is also marked by traditional singing and dancing.
