Pollution levels continue to be very high in Arak and Shazand, reaching emergency levels in some areas. Authorities have ordered the closure of all major offices and government organizations for the remainder of the working week in both cities, which are located in Markazi province. An emergency committee working in Arak also ordered factories around the city — most of which produce petrochemicals and construction materials — to close temporarily until the situation normalizes. Nurseries and daycares have also been closed.
