Iranians celebrated Yalda, one of the oldest Persian holiday traditions, on Monday, December 21. The holiday marks the beginning of winter and the victory of light over darkness.
These photographs document Yalda celebrations at the Mehraana care home for the elderly in Bojnord, northeastern Iran, one of three care centers in the town and home to 30 women.
