Each year, in Shiraz, locals prepare and serve what they boast is the largest soup in the world. The people of Shiraz line up for a bowl of aash, a green, herb-rich soup rich, to mark the death of the Prophet Mohammad. The soup, served in huge vats for residents, is said to be blessed by the prophet, who, according to Shia Muslims, died on the 28th of Safar, which this year fell on December 10.
