President Rouhani set off to New York this morning ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 28. Governmental ministers and prominent clerics bid farewell to the president, who boarded a plane in Tehran following an elaborate military ceremony complete with red carpet. Rouhani, who is making his third appearance at the UN, is expected to speak about some of the most pressing international issues in his address, including the nuclear deal. He will also meet with the heads of state of several countries during his five-day stay in the United States.
