Drought season continues in Iran, and central Iran has been particularly badly affected, with villagers from Taft, Yazd province braving high temperatures to collect water supplies for their families. In the village of Dehak, Sistan-Balochistan, near the border with Pakistan, access to water supplies are restricted to 30 minutes a day, so villagers use qanats—a system of tunnels designed centuries ago to extract water from the ground—and shallow water wells to provide and store water.
