'East Tea Can' ,a five-man all Iranian rock band, performed live at a hall in the Austrian Embassy in Tehran to an appreciative crowd. The group, using a combination of guitars, bass, drums and keyboard, describe their music as alternative rock and are proving increasingly popular among people in the capital just a year after they started. Rock music, as well as rap and most other types of pop, is banned by the Islamic state for its potential to pollute the minds of young people and lead to an un-Islamic world. As result, many bands are forced to go underground in Iran.
