Providing more than just simple justice, Iran’s judiciary has used its moral oversight and superiority to remind the public just what it thinks about free expression. Following Tehran newspaper Mardom-e Emrouz’s decision to publish a photograph of actor George Clooney wearing a “Je Suis Charlie” badge, the judiciary — supported by the city’s police forces — stepped in and closed down the newspaper’s operations.
