Tehran-born geneticist and biologist Pardis Sabeti has made a real difference in combating some of the world’s deadliest diseases, and has won some big prizes for her work. In part, she credits her success and adaptability to her experience as a newcomer to the US, and having to adjust to an entirely new culture.
