Azadeh Moaveni
Azadeh Moaveni is a former Middle East correspondent for Time magazine, and has reported from throughout the region since 1999, covering Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the American war in Iraq, and political upheaval from Syria to Afghanistan. She reported continuously from Tehran for nearly a decade, from the student riots of 1999 through to the Ahmadinejad presidency. She studied politics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and received a Fulbright Fellowship to Egypt, where she studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo. She is the author of Lipstick Jihad, Honeymoon in Tehran, and co-author, with Nobel Peace Laureate Shirin Ebadi, of Iran Awakening. She writes widely on Iran and Middle East for Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, and other publications. She is presently working on a novel set in contemporary Iran.
